Try sewing them as a 1/2sq tri and then cut for quarter sq. Less sliping and pulling. I also starch heavy prior to cutting and then size them and restarch once I have a block. Pinning the seams togeter help. I also use a small stick (can remember what it is called) to guide the ends straight through the machine and keep them from slipping.
Debra,,, in sewing 2 bias edges together,,, pin the edges, let the machine do the work,,,lightly hold your fingers on the fabric, letting the machine guide it under the needle. Sometimes we press on the fabric, trying to help the machine, and that could cause the stretching. Another idea would be to cut the pieces larger than you need, then trim them to size after they are stitched and pressed. Also make sure you are pressing and not ironing. Hope this helps.
