An old quilt top traveled from California to Eureka, Montana where a group of us hand quilters finished it. The top was made by Royal Neighbors of America, Alhambra Camp 7553, Hazel Army Oracle in 1953-54. Most of the 14 inch blocks were signed. The signatures as best I can read were Lelia, Vernice Hosp, Lillybell Wallace, Beckley, N.M.T., Hazel Jarmer, Millie Dobbins, Lizzie Mitchell, Getrude Lewis Deputy, MarionPlake, RossellBeneery, Cydia Miller, Maj Daniels. It was a pleasure to be part of this quilt history.....judy cogswell and the Historical Village of Eureka, MT.quilt1.jpg quilt2.jpg

What an honor Judith to have a hand in finishing this beautiful quilt. It was interesting to read the names on the quilt.
What a wonderful story and a beautiful quilt! Great job.
Beautiful quilt. What a history lesson. Just looked online about Royal Neighbors of America. Very interesting, I'm guessing the Alhambra camp 7553 would be in the San Gabriel area of Los Angeles? Or maybe Martinez, CA? Where will the quilt go now that it's done?
How wonderful to be a part of a project like this. So glad you and your group were able to finish it. I'll bet it was a fun one to work on.
I love all the older names...what a great opportunity to be part of a project like that.
What an interesting project. The quilt looks great!
What a great piece of history! Beautiful colors.
My first husband's last name is Lewis & his family is from Montana. I wonder if the woman with that last name might have been related to him. What a fun project to work on.
very cool. glad it finally got the finish it deserved!
What a great treasure you got to work on and bring to 'life'.
