Quilt With Us

So Sorry to all the Quilters of the World

What a busy holiday season.  I feel like I've been gone more than I've been home....oh wait, I have.  Since Thanksgiving I think I've counted 9 days/nights that I've actually been in my own bed.  I am so far behind on things around here.  I spent the better part of yesterday wiping down counters, cupboards and doing the floors.  Then I ran down and picked up my serger... well I didn't really run, I drove. I had it serviced and also had the tech put on new blades and since my light was out, replace that.   When she told me that I didn't need a new light I was be-fuddled.  She showed me a switch on the back of my serger that turns the light on and off. (I must had hit that changing thread)  WHAT???  Why is that?  WHO would turn off their light while serging.  That switch makes no sense to me at all.  Plus, now I feel like a real dummy... like I just got off the train.  You should see the get-up I did with desk top lamps, IKEA lamps, 3 bulb floor lamp, two extension cords and one surge protector,  to be able to see while serging. GEEZZ,

Oh, before I picked up my serger, I had a tech here changing out our router and changing to a new internet provider.   Yes, my router is in my sewing room.  Well, he had, at one point, to get under my table to get to the wall outlet to plug in the router and he didn't come out for the longest time.  When I asked if I could help, he said he thinks he hung himself. #%!*!   He told me a BIG fib... he didn't hang himself on my special lighting system, he was down there laughing and didn't want me to see or hear him. Then after I explained he asked if all quilters were like me.... I said SURE!  So now I feel like I have to apologize to all the quilters out there.

That was my Thrusday.... Now its a new day and things are going to be much better.... My 9 month scans came back clean. woo hoo.  Here's to a GREAT year.

I am so glad your scans are clean!!

I have the same light, Stephanie G Benson-Greer and I love it! I still have to use the table lights!

No apologies are needed here because the cable guy would also have trouble getting to things in my sewing room!!

Oh, my!  Kinda of like what is under my sewing desk!  I have to admit though that since my husband bought these cute lights (from connecting threads) and they stick to the underside of which ever machine.  Two different sizes (lengths) and they are LED lights.  Wonderful!  I no longer need Ott lights, or extra corded lights....still have them, still hooked up, but haven't had to use them, even when sewing black on black!

I am so glad about your scans came back clean!  You have much more to do on this earth and we need you here!  Had nasty storms here today, raining tree branches, cones, all sorts of stuff.  But with the hawks playing hard ball, the storm came in second!

Have a great rest of your weekend!

I'm sure you made that router techs day! LOL  I can just hear him now telling his friends...."you aren't going to believe this one...."  You know I am so THRILLED for your clean scans!  I would have posted yesterday but we were out of power for 15.5 hours here.  It's raining now and could turn to snow at some point and more wind --- which was the cause of yesterday's power outage.

Best news ever on the 9 month scan!  Woo hoo indeed!  Like the others, my sewing room is replete with lamps.  It's a quilter thing  I just turned around and looked, (my computer is in here too) and I have a total of 8 additional lights in the room, including the LED lighting strip I installed on the throat of the Bernina!  Cord control is a real problem, but I can see to sew on black!

Woo Hoo! and congrats to you too!  Hear ya loud and clear on all the dumb switches on the sewing machines.  Think I feel like I just fell off the turnip truck all the time now what with the Bernina 830 at one place and the Aurora 430 at the other.  Can't remember which one does what anymore and of course the 830 is sooo way over my head the darn thing is wasted on me.  Anyway great news, knock yourself out quilting!

Ditto that yoo-hoo!  When a survivor gets the all clear results it's reason to celebrate.  My daughter (breast cancer survivor) just had all clear mammogram; will be 5 years in May.  Yoo-hoo!

So happy to hear about your scans!

Hilarious about the tech man! When we were having our basement walls replaced after flooding the carpenter was so quite that as I was washing dishes in the kitchen upstairs I forgot he was down there and started singing. Oh my was I embarrassed!

Great news about the scans. :@)  Ok my dumb question: you have a desk top lamps as in more than one, Ikea lamps, floor lamp, how could you tell that the seger light was out?  LOL  You do of course realize that none of us will ever get any tech's to come to our house.  You have after all heard of Angies list and Craigs list, I'm sure the tech have their own list of houses not to visit, you would now  be at the top of the list and all the rest of us quilters just got added to that list!

Debbie, so glad your scans were clean, WooHoo is right! No need to apologize to this quilter. I don't know how many lights I have, but I employ at least four power strips in my SR. I just stuck cord minders on the bottom of my sewing table to keep my feet from getting tangled. And, I once took a sewing machine in because it wouldn't zig zag anymore. Turns out SOMEBODY (DS) had flicked a switch to "straight stitch only".
