Years ago when the t-shirt quilt craze was the thing to do, I thought I would no way ever want to do one for myself or attempt to work on one. Last week, my cousin called me and asked for my help on a t-shirt quilt she is making for a friend's daughter. I said I would help, but in the back of my mind I was thinking how the heck I was going to quilt this top? After receiving it, I just took the bull by the horns and went for it. Some areas have lines, some have a meander design and some are just outlined in areas. On the borders I drew out a spine for feathering, then finally added on the binding. This quilt measures 70"X 90" and is the largest quilt I've put through my little home Bernina 440 machine. It also weighs a ton due to the flannel, t-shirts, cotton batting and batik and flannel backing. Ugh, but it's done, done, and done and I'm so happy with how it turned out.
