Want to make a pinwheel baby quilt. HELP

I want to make a pinwheel quilt for 2 babies at my church. I know the pattern but I don't know a good size to make. How do I determine the size of the blocks? I want it to be a good size so that it can be used for a while, especially since colder weather is coming. Can someone help me with size determination.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I started today and decided on 9 inch squares. All squares done for one and sewing them together. Will see how big the quilt ends up being. Will take pictures when finished, but I am not sure how to put on this site.

Conecti g threads has a free pinwheel pattern that is 42" square. If you go to freebies, then free patterns, you will see it there.

If you are going to quilt the top on your home machine, I like 6-9" blocks. I also think about the backing which can be 45" wide but the top should be 1" smaller. I just made a 45 by 60 Halloween quilt, a free pattern from Quick Quilts by Mc Calls.  Fall 2015. I used flannel on the back. I thought everything was going to fit, but in the world of quilting I ended up one inch short on the back to make the 45" top work.

I think 45" by 60" is a good size that will last well into their childhood. Twelve inch blocks with borders and/or sashing that bring it out to the total size work well. I have had several quilts that size for my boys when they were little. Also that is a standard size for batting so you don't have any waste there (probably why the quilts were made that size). I hope this helps. Good luck and be sure to post pictures before you give them  away.
