I have never washed it. Without it being stitched down, I think it would pull apart in places. Good question.

Thank you for the link. It is interesting to hear the stories of such old quilts, and to find out that the quilters of that time also had UFO's that took years to finish!
Amazing to see some of the quilts that were made in the 1700's and later. I can't imagine all the work that went into making those quilts. They are fabulous. Thanks for posting this link.
