What in the world happened to the spring? Not real sure we had one down here in northwest Florida. The month of June came in with a heat wave and has never let up. So HOT and HUMID!!!! So basically I'm stuck staying inside in the A/C. So thankful for air conditioning. If I could meet the person who invented A/C, I would have to do something really special for them. Maybe make them one of Paula Deen's Banana Split Icecream Cakes. So yummmmmm! Anyway, I was going to make a quilt this summer, a project that my sister and I were both going to do. She lives in Asheville, NC. Needless to say, as always, I get so sidetracked on different projects. The quilt is still unfinished, just got three blocks done. Had to make a King Charlemagne costume for my grandson, Matt, who needed it for a report in history class. Then my oldest granddaughter, Victoria, decided she wanted me to make her an authentic Civil war ballgown with pantaloons. She is going to a week of Civil War activities in Chattanooga, TN which ends with a ball on a Friday night. So the ballgown is solid white satin taffeta with beading. When she gets here to do her fitting, I will take some pics and post for you. She has gorgeous auburn hair and peach skin and I know will be the belle of the ball as they say.
Hope all of you are doing well and getting some quilting projects done. It has been a really sad weather year and my heart goes out to all those families who lost loved ones as well as their homes. We are not looking forward to hurricane season. Living here on the gulf coast, we know there is always the possibility of another one hitting. About six years ago, when one hit, we lost six trees in our yard and the roof cap off of our house, but at least none of the trees hit the house. We have been blessed.
It's about time to start the Christmas in July projects. Kind of looking forward to getting some new ideas to start working on. So I guess it's time for me to start my day. Sending you all wishes for a blessed summer.
