Quilt With Us

It's January 10th and we have been having record breaking temperatures - has been in the upper 40's and lower 50's in North Dakota in January - every day has been a gift. We have a weather advisory posted for tonight and tomorrow so looks like our lucky streak is coming to an end. Don't think I will get lucky enough for it to be bad enough for a snow day. I could use it to finish up a customer quilt.... oh well.

This winter in Northern California is also much warmer (and drier!) that normal.  Our highs have been in the 60's and lows in the high 30's.  No snow on Mt. Lassen.  I can't remember in the 40 years I've lived here seeing the mountain so bare in January.  We're hoping for a change soon or we'll definitely be in a drought.

DH & DS have gone up to the mountain house to do a little painting, so I'm home alone for awhile.  Bring on the quilting!

Besides the cold, don't you get lots of wind?  I remember driving thru North and South Dakota and seeing lots of wooden snow guards along the HWY.  Hang in there...wrap up and stay warm.  We're 12 degrees this morniing here in middle WA.  Our highs this week are going to all be in the 30's.  YUK!  Good quilt days though.

Good morning Jan.   Isn't it amazing weather?  When I was a kid the snow would start in Oct. and by Jan. the banks would be so high you couldn't see over them and the crust would be so hard we could slide on the snow with sleds with metal runners.  Dad could walk on the crust without falling through and he was over 200 lbs.  Times have changed for sure.
