I use a pattern, I either use tracing carbon paper (for fabric) when doing hand embroidery or a lightbox & special pen for when marking to hand quilt.

I don't know about your cats, but when I put down a lap quilt or embroidery that I'm doing, you can be sure that they will curl up right in the middle, or if I'm working on the frame, one of them will be just in the area where I want to work!!!!!!They can be especially annoying when they want to "help" pull up the thread.......

I love your cats. I would be lonely without mine in my sewing room. He loves material and see what I am up to. I am from Ely Minnesota on the Canadian border.
