Thanks so much for your sweet comment. I really enjoyed making that purse. Have made bunches of them. I actually sold that one in a boutique in Jackson, Tn when I was living there two years ago. Now I'm back in Florida again.
Hi Marlene ;
Nice to hear from you but I,m sorry to hear about your husbands health problems , it certainly is a serious worry for you . i hope He gets his surgery soon . Things have been pretty quiet here , I just finished quilting a baby quilt for a new baby girl I know & I think I am going to quilt a queensize for my stepsister soon .
We had alot of rain here for about 3 weeks straight , but the weather has been lovely lately . I,m planning on going to a quilt show in Pembrooke Maine in a couple of weeks , but thats about it for my news
Take care & Happy Quilting

REALLY SMALL!! DH was a builder before the market problems and deals with that lumber store all the time... he probably knows your brother. They closed the UBC in Charlevoix.. no business, I guess. I'm working on a challenge quilt right now... for the Charlevoix quilt store.. Hearts to Holly. You buy a $5 pkg with 4 pieces of fabric and make a 24" square quilt. Needs to be done by end of June and will be voted on by customers. Prize is a basket of goodies worth $100! Sounds worth working towards, hmmm?
Have fun with your projects!
Hi Marlene... Im near Charlevoix.... The show will be in Petoskey. My youngest brother just moved (yesterday) to the carolina's...not sure if it was north or south... Highlands? ...he found a job as a chef there.

Saw you on the quilt site and was so glad to see you are still quilting. Have learned lots of new and fun patterns. Have wanted to share so often, but wasn't able to. Still love and miss you. Rhonda
Hi there ;
Its nice to hear from you , I,m so sorry to hear about the loss of your little dog , I know how attatched you can get to your pets & especially little dogs ,, our daughter has a little Maltese ,that is the apple of everyone eye .
I dont have a quilting machine , I hand quilt , I would love to be able to machine quilt but I,m not very good at it , plus I dont have room for a large machine . Right now i,m quilting 2 quilts , one a double size bed quilt for myself & the other is a baby quilt for a friend who wants it for a shower gift , I have most of the small one finished so it should be done in time .
Have a good day & happy quilting
Hi Marlene - thank you very much for the compliments - I love quilting and wish I had more time to work on my projects...I run my landscape design practice including holiday decorating so that takes up most of my time. Not complaining though - I'm gald to be doing something I love and thankful for a husband who's willing to live on less $$ so I can do my thing.
I used to enter quilts in shows, but mostly I just love making them and the sports quilts were a great way for us to get involved in each other's passions and we met a bunch of really cool people in the process. I've stopped making as many applique quilts because I'm not particularly fond of machine applique, but I can't stop wanting to make quilts, so I've gone more into piecing. Still working on machine quilting techniques - I'm not thrilled with the outcome, but it does get quilts finished so....
How long have you been quilting and what is your favorite type to make? It must have been great living in Germany and getting to see so much of the European culture. Did you pick up any other types of needlework when you were there?
Glad you're in the group - welcome to the CT blogosphere. Barb
Hi Marlene;
I have never used basting spray so I,m afraid I wont be much help to you . I have heard that some brands are very hard to quilt through & that is why I never tried it . I just pin it alot . Perhaps if you posted a message on the main group page someone who uses it alot can help
The leaders and enders quilt was really simply to make. I used a jelly roll for the stripped squares. The jelly roll was from Kansas Troubles and it is a Gathering Friends pattern. I use a lot of their patterns because I am a huge fan of theirs. Went really fast!
Thanks for the comment on my Tulips quilt. i started this in January when it was -25 outside. I just had to have something bright and springy. Although it is March 9th, we are expecting another blizzard this week. Seems like spring will NEVER get here!
Marlene, OUCH I have had a few of those bad abcess's (and several root canals) myself and it doesn't get much worse than a really bad toothache. I hope he feels better soon. I have been sewing all my life but am also new to quilting. That is why i did those wall quilts to start with, then a few baby blankets now a t-shirt quilt and next a full sized quilt! Our local quilt shops have classes that teach you quilting techniques. Maybe you could find some classes in your area.
Hi Marlene, Thanks for stopping by and viewing my quilts. My weaver fever was all strip-pieced and sewn back together. No embroidery, just planned border out with strips of fabrics. Would like to see some of your work! Have a great day!
Marlene, the flip flop wall quilt was very easy. I traced an old navy flip flop with a black marker then scanned it into my computer then shrunk it down to the size I wanted. You could just go buy a small pair of flips too. I just cut squares then machine appliqued the flip flops on top of the squares. I saw this idea at a quilt shop and a pattern for it does exist but I thought it was simple enough I didn't need the pattern. Hope this helps. Isn't it fun to make gifts like this! Where are your pictures?
Hi Marlene, thanks for the suggestion. I had a look at some of those patterns on their website, really quick and easy and they do show off the fabrics well. Hope you're enjoying this group.

Agnes

I like to use bright colors on baby quilts. I get so tired of seeing pastels all the time!! It makes the quilt stand out too.
