Yummmmmmmmmmmm, your rest. sounds great....you should do well.
The JoAnns closest to me is a Super store, bigger and stocked more that most, so guess we're lucky. I did notice they had their fats on for 99cents, but didn't pick any up. I did stock up on the rotary blades at 50percent off, I mean....who could resist. Question: have you ever used the Fiskers cutting mats? I have only used Olfa's and was wondering how Fiskers rates.
How exciting to have 5 quilts sent out to the quilter. I've only sent one out and that prompted me to take a class at a local shop that has a long arm that you can use after learning how. Then......I bought my own home version long arm and it is so nice to be able to work on it when you want and not be in an hourly rush like you are when you use a shop long arm. I haven't been able to get any sewing done for a week as my regular maching is in the repair shop, should get it back next week. Makes me realize how much I want to sew.
Last question : have you used any of the CT essential threads and if so, how did you like them. Gotta run...happy sewing
Hey GIGI.....saw your suggestion on cleaning the antique quilts...good idea about putting them in a clothes basket....that way it would be easier to lift them, Thanks for your info.
Your quilts (pics) are really nice. I especially like the one with the wreath in the middle of the cream background.
In reading your blog.....so what did you get at JoAnn's with your gift cert.? :) and what kind of restaurant did you open? I guess I mean what foods do you serve? This site is great....I had to laugh when I read someone write that she hasen't sewed a stitch since she joined as she is having too much fun on here. It's been fun for me too. I haven't been able to sew for a week now due to my machine in the repair shop. :( Should get it back in a few days. I may not sew every day, but its weird knowing "I CAN'T" Gotta run and get dinner started. Have a nice evening and Thanks again for your info.
I'm feeling better but still finding bruises I didn't know I had. It's like being in a car wreck. Today I started cutting out 6" squares for a "friendship quilt". It was a freebie pattern I got in the mail with a magazine renewal offer. I totally ignored the literally dozens of other projects in progress to impulsively jump into another. My plan is to eliminate the big trunk like storage box that's in my way full of scraps- so scrappy quilts are this year's focus.
I'm not much of a picture taker. I'll have to see if I can talk David into doing that for me.
David said he didn't know Tweedy's had gone out of business but then it's been awhile since he was in the appliance business. It is indeed a small world. Even here in Florida I run into people from southwest VA all the time. Just the other day I was in line at WalMart here in little bitty Sebastian and struck up a conversation with the woman behind me (the check out clerks here are all really old and slow) and found out that not only was she from Bristol but her husband is from the small town in Indiana I'm originally from.
Today I'm much better though stiff and sore with a shiner and fat lip to go with it. It won't keep me from getting into the sewing room today. I had all day yesterday to think about it and I'm rarin to go!
My husband said to tell you he used to call on A C Tweedy & sons in Rustburg. He's from Roanoke, I'm from Christiansburg/Radford. We moved to FL from Richmond but only lived there 3 years. We moved around a lot but call Virginia home. I'm homesick!
I wish I could move slowly- I wish I could move at all! Looks like I'll be stuck in a chair a few days. Oh it hurts to get old!
