Mari, thanks so much for the congrats on my new grandbaby. She is just adorable and is the light of my eyes. I now have a permanent smile on my face. I'm so very lucky that she lives so close and so far I have seen her every day. Your granddaughters are just beautiful. Grandparenthood (not sure if that's a word) is a wonderful group to belong to.
Marcia, thank you for your comment on my quilt "Summertime Baby 9-Patch." While I would like to take credit for the choice of colors, this was one of the kits that Connecting Threads offered when they were doing the month long tutorial "Beginner Nine Patch." The reality is, yellow and purple (or violet) are complementary colors and will usually play well together.
LOL Mari, I just read your comment about a quilt retreat...I see you live in PA...in October a small group of us go to upstate NY for a quilt getaway. It's not an organized event but its really fun and quite reasonable. You're welcome to join us! (The one in March is completely filled) I love the retreats because they give you the materials and usually its something I wouldn't have picked...makes me do things outside my box! (P.S. I love PA, was born there, and 2 friends and myself are headed to Lancaster in March for AQS)
Hi Mari, Wanted to congratulate you on your FW purchase! They're such workhorses...I take mine everywhere (classes, retreats, sew-overs). I have a new Babylock that just gives me grief at every turn. It's a love-hate relationship.
I love your pictures, the materials you used on your quilts are awesome! and p.s. I have a black kitty too!
Have a great super-bowl sunday! I'm off to my quilt shop for a surprise project! Woohoo!
Thank you for accepting me as a friend Marci. I am jealous. I love snowmen. I am at work where I do sew all day so that's nice, but it is a little bit different type of sewing. How is your finger doing today? Happy Birthday...belated? Well, you enjoy your day off and get lots of sewing done.
My husband and I are also Nascar fans. In 2005 we went to the Vegas race and loved it! My husband has raced for 10 years. He raced a stock car for 4 years and then raced IMCA for 6 years. A lot of work and money. In the long run it was a lot of fun, met a lot of people and had a lot of family time. I will have to post pictures of his cars on my page. He is done with the racing now and has found music to be his next hobby. So he has some guitars and drums.
Hi Mari, I'm from Jeannette,Pa - 25 miles east of Pgh. Not sure where Honesdale is - I live in WEstmoreland County and am a customer service rep fro Allegheny Power Electric company. I hope we can chat sometime. Becky C - PA
Hi Mari, thanks for asking about our daughter. She's doing well. She'll see a dentist in her college town and see what they recommend there. She's too far away from home to try to coordinate dental visits here. All in all, things seem to be working out for the best. She's not real thrilled with the temporary fix, but it was better than the broken front teeth. :) Hope sweet Amaya is getting better with each day. I remember hospital stays being exhausting for the parents, so I was thinking of your daughter too, and imagined she was as glad as anyone to have Amaya back home.
I'm putting off quilting until after the kids head back to college.
Thanks for the nice comment about my family. I'm so glad your DGD is doing better. I just kept thinking how worried I would be if it were Theresa, my DGD. You feel so bad when they're sick. I hope she keeps improving. Keep everyone informed.
Mari, love your quilting projects and your granddaughters are just ADORABLE! I'm hoping to get started back on some quilting projects after the kids head back to college. Right now we're enjoying having them home.
Oh, Mari, I'm so glad she is doing better. That is great news. My daughter (21 years) was helping her dad work cattle this afternoon and got her two front teeth broken off when a gate hit her in the mouth. We'll be off to the dentist in the morning. She's holding her own for now. We're always grateful things aren't worse. DH is feeling so badly about it, but it was just an accident. She "sucked it up," as they say, and finished the job, but shed a few tears after she got home. Poor sweetie. She had such a pretty smile, too, so hopefully the dentist can get her fixed back up. She doesn't really want to look cowgirl tough. :0) Praying your little granddaughter will be 100% real soon. Those things are so scary.
I'm glad that you enjoyed all the photos on my page. My mini daschund is six months old and such a sweetie!! He is my shadow. We also have a second mini daschund (he was a rescue). A very pretty dapple that is my hubby's. He will be two next month. Both are purebred and are such a joy to have around.
