Hi bonnie,,,It has been a while since I have written to anyone and I don't get on the computer very much,,Retirement is keeping us very busy,,We love it!..I'm so happy to have my husband home with me,,
She hand pieced all the flowers; I read that it is possible to machine piece the hexies and I tried that but found it very slow so I ended up hand piecing the rest of the top and then machine quilted it.
Thank you Bonnie, for the kind comment on my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt. It was a "rescue". My friend found all the flowers put together by hand in a box when cleaning out a closet after her mother-in-law's death. Only about a row and a half were already assembled and a few more had part of the ivory sashing. She asked me to put it together for her. Many, many, many hours later it is finished. I had over 100 hours just piecing the top and I lost count after that. It was a real learning opportunity and I like to think that the dear lady who started it is happy with how it came out.
Hi Bonnie, Well we have had no rain her for about a month,,we are extremely dry - the tree's are loosing their leaves,,and they are all on the ground...everything is wilted. Some of the plants that we didn't mulch, I still have to water them, almost every day.!
We have our first cucumber, and our yellow squash, and string beans. cooked them on the grill,,Oh so good.
Also with my job, They had me picking up heavy containers of tea, and coffee pots, and having to scoop up ice....that's what I think hurt my Elbow and my elbow is killing me,,I was lifting way too much and now I can't do anything..Tennis Elbow.! My shoulder and arms are hurting too...I guess I have to take it easy...My body isn't made for all this lifting. I didn't do anything of the lifting on Sunday and I felt much better.
Off to get some dishes done and then do some sewing...
Hi Bonnie, Well we got one heck of a storm yesterday, thunder and lightening. It poured out most of the night....the thunder was really loud. the grass will be really green now..! I almost thought we had hail the way it sounded. Well today is clean up then go to orientation at 2pm...We planted beans last night, and zucchini. Hopefully with DH coming home early 6pm..we may get the rest of the garden planted and the rest of the bushes we bought...Not that I know where we will put them...but that will be the challenge for the evening..
Hi Bonnie,,,I did end up getting a job...over at "Hardee's"
I went back there to ask if they had any openings and they did.! So she hired me for 5 hrs a day, for 4 days,,, Thursday, Friday's Saturdays, and Sundays, but not every Sunday,,,From 8AM-1pm,,,so nice hours and a few hours so I can get something extra too..
We are having a storm at the moment,,a little rain and it is getting chilly...but the weather will be back up in the 70* once again then we'll be hot.
We had a lady come to our guild, checking out the older quilts the ladies brought in,,one was made of all hexies,, made me think of you...it was really pretty,
Well I got to get off of here,,storm is getting worse...talk to you later on.
Good afternoon Bonnie,! My Dh works in a furniture store,, he is the manager for Astro-Holdings,,,Inside of Roses Dept. store...
Well I may have news later on tomorrow.! I have another interview, yesterday it was with food Lion, a grocery store, but,,,this time with ~ Hardee's..I may be a crew member...or a hostess..I will find out tomorrow afternoon....Please pray all goes well,,it is only 20 hrs. of so,,but it will be better I don't stay home so much...Depression is getting a hold of me again.
My classes are going along great,,,I am teaching them about triangles....they aren't so sure about them...Jill one of the girls are really excited about quilting....I may do a table runner so she can see what a whole quilt is looking like..or at last explain what the bigger one will look like.
hope your weather is getting warmer,,,we had 80* yesterday,,today is cooler and wet...
Hi Bonnie, We have been working on the outside of the house...in the garden and in the yard, the weather has been so warm we are filling in all the holes in the lawn and filling up the surrounding areas from the fruit trees. We bought a Clematis, a Jackmanii, in the back of the house. And a Trumpet vine, to put around the front of the house. Flowers need to be here,, no color.!
No quilting as it is way too warm out. But I am still teaching and loving every minute of it.
I need to get another cut of tea in me so I can wake up..Have a great day!
Bonnie,! So good to finally have you back! I've missed you!- (Hugs) I thought something happened to you. Yes the hexies take a while but your really good at that type of quilting. I have make a nightgown for myself, some slippers, teaching Quilting lessons to 2 ladies that I really like doing, had a show to sell some of my wares in the fall of last year-didn't do so well. I have been crocheting some stars for Christmas ornaments, Made several crocheted scarfs. I made some placemats and napkins, then this past week I bought my self a Paint-by-number...that really relaxes me so I can't be doing that much sewing have no place to put it now,,,so I needed something different to do,, I put away 5 totes of quilted items I have made to sell or to give as gifts. Anyway I am keeping myself busy,,Now all we will wait for is the garden...planted peppers seeds this week...but the garden is still frozen. I am still looking for a job of some sort, and I am involved in a "Precept upon Precept" Bible study that Kay Arthur did.....it is so very good,,we are doing the book of Genesis Chapetes 1-3 then we took a break...now doing Chapters 3-11. But had so much ice- had to be canceled for 3 weeks already. I really like it very much it is a word study actually. Have you ever heard of it?
I need to get my day started....Nice to be talking to you.! Have a great day---------Joanna
Hi Bonnie! Thanks for the comment on my door banners. They were made for a dear friend's birthday. Got the idea from a pattern but changed and substituted some of the motifs. Almost didn't get them all made in time -- you know how you can misjudge how long a project is going to take! But I made it!!!! Thanks again - it is so good to hear from you. How have you been?
I remember you asking if I had eve done the crocheting with the long, hook at only one end..I bought one yesterday,,and I started to do the afghan stitch...I am looking at it on line,,but one of my girlfriend here did it, and it has encouraged me to do it too,,,I am still having trouble with one side being straight...but I will get it sooner or later,,Hope your doing well...This place is so much fun.! We are getting the most we have ever gotten out of a garden. And now to get our second set of crops in this week...This is a lot of work, but so much fun...Take care, God bless.
Hi Bonnie, Yes we are settled......and the bed from when the kids were here, is now gone so I can get to my sewing room for sure.
It started to snow here, and it got to be white-out conditions.....we just got home...it was crazy, the people around here don't know how to drive in the snow.....they were going so,,,,,slow. ! this is pretty normal where we come from,,so this is no big deal. But the roads haven't been treated so they were harder to control.
Both of the kids came to visit us and now the sewing room is empty,,so in I go,,,!
Hope your doing well,,let me know how your doing...
Hi Bonnie, Well we are still here. We haven't moved yet with all of our belongings in a U-Haul truck in our driveway. They haven't make up their minds to get a date yet. So here we sit. in an empty house and trying to find something to eat, every day. But we are trying to get some humor out of all this chaos. So we are trying to laugh at things that normally we would not be laughing at. Hope your doing well. We are not even doing any Christmas shopping so this will all be different for everyone here. We go to the Library to get on here, or McDonalds. Hope fully we don't have to do this for very long. Please pray for us as we surely do need it. Thanks.....
