About Me
I drive a school bus...enjoy my time off but still can't get enough quilting done. I want/need to learn how to use my embroidery machine....just scared by it!! I have been collecting fabric for about 10 years. My goal is to get some UFO's finished....especially a quilt I started in the mid 90's that I said would not have any machine stitching. (I have NEVER said that again!!!!)
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, hand quilting, machine quilting, embroidery, general sewing, gardening
My pets are awesome!
One cat that came to Alabama via Michigan, via South Dakota...hence his name...Dakota.

Hi, Carol! Welcome to it all! :D

I enjoyed reading your short bio up above. I hand quilted one quilt, it took me two very long years, and I'm a confirmed free motion quilter ever since! LOL I also have a Bernina that I bought over 5 years ago and the embroidery module has never come out of the box! I meant to get to it last year, but just haven't had the time. I was terrified of it at first, but I'm not afraid of it anymore because I have now gotten pretty good at the thread painting stuff. (I just have to work up the confidence to deal with a sewing "computer" that knows more than me! lol) If you can free motion quilt, it's pretty much the same thing and may even be more fun! : )

Hi Carol,

Don't apologize for having to use inexpensive fabric!  I used to tell my students - buy the best fabric you can afford.  Nothing wrong with that.  I always feel freer using inexpensive fabric.

We'll have as much fun as anyone making this mystery quilt, and we did not spend as much.

Carol, yes, I do all my own quilting.  Just this past year my mother  (86) who lives with me now bought me a new quilting system, an Innova 26", LS with lots of extras.  I gave my old Grace frame away to a couple in OH and sold my stretched Juki online.  Then I went down to TX to have my robotics upgraded for the new baby so I'm having a grand time with my machine these days.

I'm in the process of trying to make a baby quilt using some embroidery blocks I found in my stash.  I didn't realize just how hard it is to make up a quilt as you go.  I'll figure it out and nothing goes to waste here.  If I goof up on my cutting, the goofs just go into my scrap bins.  Just saw a pattern on one of my other quilt digests using lots of scraps called Butch's Bricks.
