About Me
I started quilting in 1983 after watching Georgia Bonesteel's PBS series. My grandmother made tops but said they couldn't be quilted, you had to send them to someone else to be quilted! So quilt as you go was my first quilt. I've come a long way since then. I am married 42 years, 3 grown kids and 4 grandkids. We also have 4 furbabies. Quilting is my passion!

Thank you. I gave my Irish Chain to a girl I have worked with for 12 years. She loved it so much she dares anyone at home to even touch it.

Thanks Debbie. I used to live in a suburb of Cleveland. I am thrilled to be here. The James girls meet once a month but we have three groups here in columbus so I can actually go three times a month if I am so inclined. Once a month in the winter is enough for me. Look forward to talking to you again.

Hi Debbie,
My name is Sherrie and I just joined last night. I am so excited to be here. I started quilting several years ago with a JoAnne's quilt block of the month class. I made a king size quilt with 12 different blocks that took me over a year and a half to complete. I also volunteer at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and at the local theaters. Where in Ohio are you from? Are you familiar with the James Quilting Sisters? I quilt with them too. Glad to meet you. In stitches, Sherrie

When I read your reply, I was wondering if you just might change the position of the blocks you "didn't care for" - next to different blocks you might like them better. Sylvia's sampler is a nice quilt and your fabrics are great. I am doing 3 BOMs myself and I sure know what you mean by having lots of projects in the works. But we sure enjoy it, don't we?

Hi Debbie! Thank you for the kind words. I am working on the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Quilt. I am not doing some of the blocks out of the book, so I am doing some extras from other sources to fill in the spaces plus I need a King size quilt so will put it in a setting that will increase the size as well. I have the blocks up on a design wall as of today. DH and I took out the ones we didn't care for, so it looks like I have about 8 more I need to create to get the setting to work out the way I want it too. The quilt is for my DFIL so I have tried to use more masculine fabrics too. I hope to go and find the setting fabrics sometime over the weekend or next week sometime. I would like to do another SBS quilt in my own taste of fabrics sometime, but that will have to wait until next year I think with all the BOMs and other projects I have lined up already lol

Yes, Debbie you posted your note to me on your page! I'm glad to know that a 14" hoop is a good size. I'll try it out and let you know.

Elaine, I don't know why I haven't joined the Ohio Quilters here. Just haven't done it yet. I DO belong to the OQ yahoo group, though. I LOVE hand quilting, it is just very relaxing and I love how it looks, too. A long time ago I bought a wooden 14" hoop. It is all beat up now, but I still use it. You can get a hoop at JoAnn Fabs I think and they are coated with a plastic that makes it smooth to put the quilt in and out of it. A friend of mine has one. Someday I will upgrade, LOL! If you need any specific pointers I'd be glad to help where I can. There are lots of books on hand quilting and probably stuff on line too. Just look around a little and you'll find resources. Just give it a whirl and good luck!
