Hello Gayle, I started to send you a comment about 2 hours ago, but we lost power. So, here I am back on the pc. (And I forgot what I typed earlier, the system did not save a draft!). It's good to be in touch with you, it's been that long!

I have joined Facebook so I seldom come to this site, but I still order lots of fabrics and anything on sale from Connecting Threads.

On days that my daughter works (from 9 am to 10 pm) I get to pick up my granddaughter from school and then take her to whatever activities she's on. She is playing softball so the practice has started 2 nights a week.

I try to work on my own quilts and hope that I can get more done in-between the volunteer work I do.  It's nice being retired, but I miss the discipline of structured schedules.

I do miss the nice folks we had in our QWU groups, and I cherish all the projects we were all involved in.  I still hang the snowman quilt you gave me, and I finally finish the dresden plate block quilt, and the other stuff I had signed up for.

I'll try to get in here whenever I get the chance.  So let's keep in touch.

Wishing you a real glorious spring.

Hi Gayle, I love your smile! You are so busy with life and still have time to do beautiful quilting.

Hi Gayle

The eye spy blocks were cut at 6", so a 5.5" finish. I did 1" sashing and the 2.5" strips were cut at 3" for the pieced border.

Hi Gayle,
So glad you are enjoing and sharing the lab puppies in overalls! I have it downloaded and as the background on my phone and I swear every time I see them it makes me smile. Even the hubby used my phone the other day and I heard him commenting to the puppies...I wounder how long it took them to get you guys in those overalls? I thought maybe it was more precious to me/us as we have choc labs.
I agree...I don't think the yorkie-poo would appreciate overalls. That sounds beneath him. Have a good evening! ~ Georgia ~

Hi Gayle....You are like me I usually have the embroidery machine going and sewing at the same time...Right now I'm sewing sweatshirts (the sweatshirts are bought) and adding fabric and then adding a Borders Made Easy strip to the front rt and lt sides.  I then sew on the lines of the borders made easy and then I cut in between the lines and you have a stained glass look effect.  I will post pictures when I get the next two that I'm doing on line.  A very inexpensive gift when you can get your sweatshirts at WalMart for 5 dollars or less.  I bought some at the end of winter for 1 dollar each and stocked up on different sizes so I could make gifts when needed.   Take care and will talk again soon.  Rachel

Hi Gayle/LA  Thanks for writing.. Nothing very special about the pulled Chicken in the Crock Pot.  I use a small Crock pot.  Add a small amount of Olive Oil on the bottom..added 2 sections of Chicken Breasts.  1/2 a red onion on top..  seasoned with salt, pepper, ginger, garlic powder..  add grape juice or apple juice just even with the top of meat and onion.. some apple chutney or apple sauce arond the sides..about 2 tablespoons full.  Cover and let it slow cook for about 2 to 3 hours.  I'll serve it tonight with rice, and a veggie.  Nothing hard to it at all...  Just shred the chicken all up when you are ready to use it, and you can drizzle a little of the liquid on it..   Love to cook..and of course sew.  Love and Hugs, Anne

Gayle, I just treated the fleece backing like any other backing  - just tried not to make it too taut.  Since it's easy to stretch, I measured it while it was just laying on the floor before loading it and didn't stretch it beyond that measurement when attaching it to the rollers.  I love the way it quilts - the stitches kind of burrow into the fabric so backtracks and wobbles are much less noticable.  When I took it off the LA I thought the edges looked a little puckered but that went away when I put the binding on.  I've used several different threads on fleece and all have worked - whatever your machine normally likes should be fine.

I've tried it with and without batting.  When doing top and bottom with fleece I don't use batting.  When the top is cotton fabrics I prefer to use  a lightweight batting (80/20 Hobbs) - just gives more definition to the quilting.  Have fun!

Got any suggestions for 45 degree miters? I could use some. I struggled through this piece and want to do another. 90 degree miters are easy for me but how do I perfect 45?
